After two successful years of presenting “Showhouse in a Showroom,” the Alden Parkes team is ready to make plans for the High Point Market showroom to the next level with an unexpected element.

We are thrilled to announce that we have decided to partner with Kurt Jacob Miller of Jacob-Lukas Design. Kurt, who was a former participant in Alden Parkes’ “Showhouse in a Showroom” event, will design the showroom in a revolutionary way.

Kurt has a strong background in visual merchandising and understands the importance of showcasing upholstery and case goods in ways that encourage visitors to examine every detail of the piece. While Alden Parkes has been fortunate to partner with wonderful brands accessorizing the showroom vignettes with stunning wallpaper, rugs, and accessories, Kurt understands the need for a fresh design plan that emphasizes the beauty of the furniture itself.

The design will take an unconventional approach, looking towards the famed New York fashion week as an inspiration when it comes to creating accent walls with bright pops of color. Reminiscent of an art exhibit, Alden Parkes’ upholstery and case goods will stand out on display. — Creativity is key here, and we will see hanging chairs frames on walls and round table tops hung as wall art.

“Being familiar with the showroom, I instantly thought about how we can capitalize on traffic flow while simultaneously showing the furniture in a way that has not been done before at Alden Parkes,” explains Miller. “I have always believed that you can tell a lot about someone’s taste in design by evaluating their sense of fashion, which was a driving factor in my inspirations for the showroom design. By mimicking an art or fashion exhibit set-up, you really get to see the beauty of the piece.”

Kurt’s savvy merchandising skills using visual tools will inevitably keep the beauty of the furniture at the forefront. Working with the brand for the past three years, Kurt knows the brand and knows Alden Parkes is ready for something fresh and inspiring. As the saying goes, “everything old is new again!”

Alden Parkes’ High Point Market showroom is located at 200 N. Hamilton Street, Suite 110, and will be open throughout the duration of High Point Market from 8 am to 7 pm.
